You hear it all the time. The music industry has been damaged beyond repair by ringtone artists and greedy executives, and for the most part we're inclined to agree. Everyday our pessism about the younger generations' dedication to good music grows. As we watch the faux-thug posturing of rising "hip-hop" artists and equally disingenuous histrionics of rnb chanteuses, you can't help but yearn for something more. And perhaps we've found that something in Melanie Fiona.
Melanie Fiona is not exactly a diamond in the rough, and we admit that we were skeptical of the gorgeous songstress. Somehow her spectacular looks almost work against her soul sister credibility. What kind of heart ache could such a creature have possible endured? After all we see perfectly manicured new artists every day, we couldn't possibly devote time and energy to all of them. But this live recording changed our minds. Melanie makes belting our this soulful song look easy.
Melanie's debut album, The Bridge, has been released internationally but has yet to receive a U.S. release date. We can't wait to see what she's got in store. In the meantime, here is the video for Melanie's first single, "Give It To Me Right."
